Thanks to the team that went to murree to improve the repeater setup over this weekend.

The status is following;

TX antenna relocated and has now resulted in S5 signal in AP2DIG QTH. Previously it was S1.

Decoder 100hz added to the TX of repeater.

UHF link added to the repeater with frequency of 433.500 MHZ and Encoder tone of 100 hz.

The repeater can be accessed either way, i.e. tx on VHF or UHF.

Further improvement on UHF has been proposed which will be carried out in the coming days.

Will keep you posted.

Thanks to crew on the mountain top and crew on the ground.

If conditions permit i would be visiting Murree tomorrow to conclude the following;

Change the frequency of UHF setup since the present one is picking loads of interference.

Change the Rx antenna to the previous setup (f23). Hams in far flung areas have difficulty in accessing the repeater with the present antenna (motorola).

Kindly stay tuned to the repeeater frequency on Saturday Oct 3, 2009 and Sunday Oct 4, 2009.

Hello Friends

PARS 70CM UHF TEST Signal Fox is revised and now available at 430.050 with CTCSS 100HZ.

The 70CM signal foot print is expected to be the same as PARS 2M Signal.

Please note : RG-213 and RG-58 type cables are no way for 70CM UHF.

Specially far stations & mobile do check that factor before experimenting.

Try using N-TYPE COAX connector rather than ordinary PL-259 for best performance.

Special thanks to AP2AUM for his time and support for yesterday's improvements.

Dear Zulfiqar Bhai

Thank you for your kind questions.

Best cables for 70CM (UHF) for home use are LMR-400 , RF-9913 ---- professional 7/8 -LMR-600

Find below their pictures along with a link that help you to find different cables and their losses as per frequencies.

Frankly , I think for Amateurs / Hobby , It is very hard to purchase these UHF cables from the source or suppliers.

The best idea is to search these cables in Junks or Cable surplus stores.

www.radiobooks.com/products/techinfo/coaxloss.htm

Finally a Starter tip : A Good Quality RG-11/U Commonly used by cable TV operators gives at least best performance over RG-213 on 70cm.

Hope it helps!

The central conductor of LMR400UF is demonstrated in my Youtube video 'Kenwood TM 271A.' It's the best cable around but too expensive, more than Beldon's.
